Dr. Krystal L. Meares is the Founder and CEO of Pragmatic Psychological Solutions PLLC. Dr. Meares earned a BS in Psychology from Howard University, MA in Educational Psychology from New York University and a PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University of Georgia. She is a Licensed Psychologist and Certified Health Service Provider in North Carolina.

For over a decade, Dr. Meares has provided assessment, counseling, supervision, and consultation services in private practice, university counseling centers, and community mental health agencies. Her work in each of these spaces has been guided by her commitment to equity, justice and inclusion.

As a result of her various professional experiences, Dr. Meares has developed strong clinical skills enabling her to effectively serve clients from diverse backgrounds and foster solid, collaborative relationships with other providers (physicians, schools and universities, local and national community organizations, etc.). In her current practice, Dr. Meares provides comprehensive evaluations for children, adolescents and emerging adults (ages 5-22).

Dr. Meares is most passionate about self-care, service and education. She creates balance in her life by spending time with loved ones, traveling, volunteering, reading and exercising. 

As a clinician Dr. Meares strives to:

Establish meaningful connections with her clients in order to assess, understand and respond to their specific needs, strengths, and experiences (client-centered).

Recognize her own biases and level of privilege while creating safe spaces for clients to honor their intersecting identities (inclusive).

Focus more on the internal strengths and resourcefulness of her clients, and less on weaknesses, failures, and shortcomings (strength-based).
